Gleichheit, Brüderlichkeit, Freiheit by Jef Geys

For Messestadt Riem, Jef Geys adapted a project he had devised in 1986 for the exhibition 'Chambres d'Amis' in Ghent, Belgium, in which he wrote the ideals promoted by the French Revolution of 1789 - egalité, fraternité, liberté - in three languages on doors that he then placed in private homes. In Munich, Geys installed the doors in spaces devoted to various religions and world views, including the ecumenical chapel in the cemetery serving the suburbs of Messestadt and Trudering.
