In the first phase of her project, Fortuyn/O'Brien constructed wooden models of Messestadt Riem homes at a scale of 1:12. She then invited children of kindergarten age to decorate and furnish these doll's houses. In the second phase, she took the objects and the materials and colours of the walls, floors and curtains in the children's models and reconstructed them in detail as a full-scale installation in a recently built Messestadt apartment. One result of the project was the creation of ‘Das Haus in den Wolken’ (The House in the Clouds), a children’s book by Fortuyn/O’Brien and the writer K. Schippers. The book is available from all good bookshops or from the publisher, Revolver – Archiv für aktuelle Kunst.
